Using input from the customer, this is the design I came up
with and one of the prototype drawings I used for customer
approval. The drawing was created using Google SketchUp.
The upper case construction has cherry plywood sides and
back. The plywood edging and drawer rails are solid cherry.
This project is a custom built jewelry cabinet. The design was based on
specific requirements of the customer.
The construction will be all cherry plywood and hardwood. The upper case
will have 9 identical drawers and 2 side doors with necklace hangers. The
lower case will sit on custom made bracket feet and have 2 progressively
sized drawers. When complete, an antiqued cherry tone with several coats
of varnish will be applied. Overall dimensions will be 40"x18"x12".
Be sure to check back often to follow the progress. If you like this piece and
would me to build something like it for you, please be sure to contact me for
a quote.
Top and bottom plates are attached using glue and screws.
The lower case is completed and attached. Everything to this
point is fairly easy to construct. Now it's on to the doors,
drawers and feet...all of which will require patients and
individual fitting.
The custom made bracket feet are finished and attached.
Finally, this is starting to look like something. If you would like
to see how I made the bracket feet click here.
The upper drawers are complete. The purple tape is used as a
temporary pull while fitting the drawers and will stay on until I
get the knobs installed (after finishing). The bottom drawers
are up next...
The bottom drawers are complete and fitted.
The side doors are finished and installed. And that's pretty
much it for the construction phase. Now, all that's left to do
is give everything a final sanding, and then some color.
